Sloppy Joes (Print Version)

Ingredients:

01 - 1 tbsp vegetable oil.
02 - 1 ½ lbs lean ground beef (90/10).
03 - 1 small sweet onion (diced).
04 - 1 small green bell pepper (diced).
05 - 2 tbsp tomato paste.
06 - 3 cloves garlic (minced).
07 - 1 tsp smoked paprika.
08 - 1 tsp chili powder.
09 - 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper.
10 - 1 ½ cups beef stock.
11 - 1 cup ketchup.
12 - 2 tbsp Dijon mustard.
13 - 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce.
14 - 1 tbsp brown sugar.
15 - Kosher salt and black pepper (to taste).

Instructions:

01 - Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes. Drain excess fat.
02 - Stir in diced onion and bell pepper. Cook until tender, about 3-4 minutes.
03 - Add tomato paste, minced garlic, smoked paprika, chili powder, and cayenne pepper. Stir until fragrant, about 1 minute.
04 - Pour in beef stock, scraping the skillet’s bottom to deglaze. Stir in ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar.
05 - Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and flavors blend, about 15-20 minutes.
06 - Pile the saucy beef mixture onto toasted buns and serve immediately.
