Copycat Apple Pie (Print Version)

Ingredients:

01 - 2 large apples, peeled and diced.
02 - 1/4 cup granulated sugar.
03 - 1 tbsp brown sugar.
04 - 1/2 tsp cinnamon.
05 - 1 tbsp cornstarch.
06 - 1 tbsp lemon juice.
07 - 2 cups all-purpose flour.
08 - 1 tbsp granulated sugar.
09 - 1/2 tsp salt.
10 - 3/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed.
11 - 5-6 tbsp cold water.

Instructions:

01 - In a saucepan, combine diced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and lemon juice.
02 - Cook over medium heat until the apples are soft and the sauce thickens. Let the filling cool.
03 - In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt for the crust.
04 - Cut in cold, cubed butter until the mixture becomes crumbly.
05 - Add cold water one tablespoon at a time until the dough forms.
06 - Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
07 - Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into rectangles.
08 - Place a spoonful of the apple filling on one side of each rectangle, fold the dough over, and crimp the edges with a fork to seal.
09 - Brush with egg wash and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes:

01 - Use Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples for a tart flavor.
02 - Chill the dough before rolling for a flakier crust.
03 - Egg wash helps achieve a golden brown color on the crust.
