Cotton Candy Cookies (Print Version)

Ingredients:

01 - All-purpose flour: 2 and 3/4 cups.
02 - Baking soda: 1 tsp.
03 - Baking powder: 1/2 tsp.
04 - Salt: 1/2 tsp.
05 - Unsalted butter: 1 cup, softened.
06 - Granulated sugar: 1 and 1/2 cups.
07 - Large egg: 1.
08 - Vanilla extract: 1 tsp.
09 - Almond extract: 1/2 tsp.
10 - Pink food coloring: A few drops.
11 - Blue food coloring: A few drops.
12 - Cotton candy flavoring (optional): Adjust to taste.
13 - Sprinkles: Optional, for decoration.

Instructions:

01 - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
02 - In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
03 - In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
04 - Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until smooth. If using cotton candy flavoring, add it now and mix well.
05 - Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
06 - Divide the dough into two equal portions. Add a few drops of pink food coloring to one portion and blue food coloring to the other. Mix each portion until the colors are evenly distributed.
07 - Take small amounts of each colored dough and gently press them together. Roll the combined dough into balls, then slightly flatten them into cookie shapes.
08 - Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. If desired, add sprinkles on top for extra fun.
09 - Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are still slightly soft. Avoid overbaking to keep the cookies chewy and tender.
10 - Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
