Candy Apples (Print Version)
Ingredients:
01 -
6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp).
02 -
6 wooden sticks.
03 -
2 cups granulated sugar.
04 -
½ cup light corn syrup.
05 -
½ cup water.
06 -
¼ tsp cream of tartar.
07 -
1 tsp vanilla extract.
08 -
Pink and blue food coloring gel (or any cotton candy-inspired colors).
09 -
Cotton candy-flavored extract (optional).
10 -
Edible glitter or sprinkles (optional).
Instructions:
01 -
Scrub the apples thoroughly to remove any wax and pat them dry. Insert a wooden stick into each apple and place them on a tray lined with parchment paper.
02 -
In a saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, water, and cream of tartar. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
03 -
Increase the heat to high and let the mixture boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (150°C). Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and cotton candy-flavored extract if using.
04 -
Divide the hot candy into two separate containers. Add pink food coloring to one container and blue food coloring to the other. Use a toothpick to swirl the colors for a marbled effect.
05 -
Dip each apple into both candy mixtures, swirling them to create a cotton candy-inspired design. Place the dipped apples on parchment paper to set.
06 -
While the candy is still soft, sprinkle edible glitter or sprinkles over the apples for decoration. Allow the apples to cool completely until the candy coating hardens.
07 -
Once firm, the candy apples can be wrapped or enjoyed immediately.
Notes:
01 -
Be sure to work quickly when dipping the apples to achieve the best swirl effect before the candy hardens.
02 -
Edible glitter or sprinkles add a festive touch, making these candy apples perfect for parties.
