Homemade Krispy Kremes (Print Version)

Ingredients:

01 - Whole milk, warmed: 1 cup.
02 - Active dry yeast: 2 1/4 tsp (one packet).
03 - Granulated sugar: 1/4 cup.
04 - Eggs, room temperature: 2 large.
05 - Unsalted butter, melted and cooled: 1/3 cup.
06 - All-purpose flour: 4 cups (plus more for rolling).
07 - Salt: 1/2 tsp.
08 - Ground nutmeg: 1/4 tsp.
09 - Powdered sugar: 2 cups.
10 - Whole milk: 1/3 cup (for glaze).
11 - Vanilla extract: 1/4 tsp (for glaze).
12 - Vegetable oil (for frying).

Instructions:

01 - In a large bowl, mix the warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Stir and let it rest for 5-10 minutes until the yeast becomes frothy.
02 - Add the remaining sugar, eggs, melted butter, salt, and nutmeg to the yeast mixture. Gradually add the flour, stirring to form a sticky dough. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
03 - Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
04 - Roll out the dough to 1/2-inch thickness on a floured surface. Use a doughnut cutter to cut out doughnuts and holes.
05 - Place the doughnuts on a parchment-lined tray and let rise for 30 minutes until puffy.
06 - Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the doughnuts in batches for about 1 minute per side, until golden. Drain on a wire rack.
07 - For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, 1/3 cup milk, and vanilla extract. Dip each warm doughnut into the glaze, then place back on the rack to set.
08 - Enjoy the doughnuts fresh for the best flavor and texture.

Notes:

01 - These Homemade Krispy Kreme doughnuts are light, fluffy, and sweet, with a soft interior and a perfect sugary glaze. They are best enjoyed fresh out of the fryer!.
