Mickey Mouse Candy Apples (Print Version)

Ingredients:

01 - 6 medium-sized apples (any variety).
02 - 2 cups granulated sugar.
03 - 1 cup light corn syrup.
04 - 1 cup water.
05 - 1 teaspoon red food coloring.
06 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
07 - Lollipop sticks or wooden skewers.
08 - Optional: sprinkles or nuts for topping.

Instructions:

01 - Wash the apples thoroughly and dry them completely. Insert a lollipop stick or wooden skewer into the top of each apple to create a firm handle.
02 - In a saucepan, combine the sugar, light corn syrup, and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar is fully dissolved.
03 - Once the mixture reaches a boil, stop stirring and allow it to cook until it reaches the hard crack stage (300°F or 150°C). Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature.
04 - Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the red food coloring and vanilla extract.
05 - Carefully dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, rotating to ensure an even coating. Let the excess candy drip off.
06 - Place the coated apples onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Let them cool and harden for about 30 minutes.
07 - Before the candy coating sets completely, sprinkle with toppings like sprinkles or nuts if desired.

Notes:

01 - Tip: Use a candy thermometer to ensure the coating reaches the correct temperature for the perfect texture.
