01 -
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
02 -
Using a serrated knife, carefully slice each croissant in half horizontally, creating a top and bottom piece. Try to keep them connected at the back if possible, creating a hinge.
03 -
Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on the inside of each croissant half. A little goes a long way, so use just enough to add flavor without overpowering.
04 -
On the bottom half of each croissant, layer 2 slices of deli ham, folding them if necessary to fit nicely within the croissant. Top the ham with 1 slice of cheese, either Swiss or cheddar, based on your preference.
05 -
Gently close the croissants by placing the top half over the fillings. Arrange them on the prepared baking sheet with some space between each one to allow for even heating.
06 -
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and garlic powder, mixing well. Using a pastry brush, generously brush this mixture over the top of each croissant. This will add flavor and help the croissants achieve a beautiful golden color.
07 -
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown on top and the cheese has melted completely.
08 -
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly for 2-3 minutes before serving. These croissants are best enjoyed warm while the cheese is still melty and the exterior is crisp.
