Tropical Blue Cocktail (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ For the Cocktail

01 - 1 to 1 1/2 cups crushed ice
02 - 1 1/2 ounces Malibu coconut rum
03 - 1 ounce 100% pineapple juice
04 - 1/2 ounce blue curacao liqueur
05 - 1/2 cup lemon-lime soda (Sprite)
06 - Cocktail umbrella and straw for garnish (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Fill a 15-ounce daiquiri or hurricane glass about three-quarters full with crushed ice - you'll need roughly 1 to 1 1/2 cups.
02 - In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the Malibu coconut rum, pineapple juice, and blue curacao. Put the lid on and shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds until everything is well mixed and cold.
03 - Strain the blue mixture from the shaker into your ice-filled glass. This catches any ice chips or chunks and gives you a smooth drink.
04 - Slowly pour the Sprite over the top of the drink. Watch as it creates a cool foamy effect that looks like white caps on ocean waves - that's the carbonation doing its magic!
05 - Add a straw and a festive cocktail umbrella if you're feeling fancy. Serve right away and enjoy your beautiful blue ocean drink!

# Notes:

01 - Use real pineapple juice (100% juice), not pineapple juice cocktail - it makes a big difference in flavor.
02 - Don't add the Sprite to the cocktail shaker - it'll foam up and make a mess. Always add it at the end.
03 - Straining after shaking gives you a smoother, better-textured drink.
04 - You can skip the shaker and just build the drink in the glass, but shake it for the best results.
