Candied Yams (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 6 medium-sized sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced into ¼ - ½ inch pieces.
02 - 8 tbsp salted butter (unsalted can also be used).
03 - 1 cup dark brown sugar.
04 - 1/4 cup granulated sugar.
05 - 1 tsp ground cinnamon.
06 - 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg.
07 - 1 tbsp real vanilla extract.
08 - Pinch of salt.

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
02 - Wash, peel, and slice sweet potatoes into ¼ - ½ inch pieces and place them in the prepared dish.
03 - In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Simmer while stirring for about 5 minutes until smooth. Stir in vanilla.
04 - Pour the glaze over the sweet potatoes, ensuring all slices are coated evenly.
05 - Cover the dish with vented aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
06 - Remove the foil, stir to coat the sweet potatoes again, and re-cover. Bake for another 25 minutes.
07 - Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes uncovered.
08 - Let the candied yams cool for 10 minutes before serving.
