Chicken Crescent Braid (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ For the Dough

01 - 8 oz can refrigerated crescent dough sheet or seamless crescent roll dough

→ For the Filling

02 - 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded or finely chopped
03 - 4 to 6 slices deli ham
04 - 4 to 6 slices Swiss cheese

# Instructions:

01 - Heat your oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
02 - Unroll the crescent dough onto the baking sheet. If using regular crescent rolls, pinch the perforations together to form a solid rectangle. Position it so a long side is facing you.
03 - Using a sharp knife or scissors, mark the dough into three long sections - a center strip and two side strips. Cut 8 to 10 diagonal strips about 1 inch wide along each long side, leaving the center strip uncut. These strips will be used to create the braid.
04 - Spread the shredded chicken evenly along the center strip, leaving about 1 inch at the top and bottom edges. Layer the deli ham slices over the chicken, folding them as needed to fit. Top with the Swiss cheese slices, overlapping them slightly.
05 - Fold the top and bottom edges of the dough slightly over the filling to seal the ends. Starting at one end, alternately fold the right and left diagonal strips over the filling to create a loose braid pattern. Tuck in any loose ends to cover the filling - it's okay to have some gaps where the cheese can bubble through!
06 - Bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 22 minutes until the dough is puffed, golden brown, and the cheese is melted and oozing.
07 - Remove from the oven and let it rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes - this allows the cheese to set a bit. Slice into 4 to 6 pieces and serve warm!

# Notes:

01 - Use rotisserie chicken or leftover cooked chicken to make this super easy.
02 - Don't worry if the braid isn't perfect - it'll still taste amazing!
03 - Letting it rest before slicing helps the cheese set so it doesn't all run out.
04 - You can substitute different cheeses like cheddar or provolone if you prefer.
05 - This is great for a quick weeknight dinner or even breakfast!
