Heat oven to 350°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Beat butter and sugar until fluffy, 2-3 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, then almond extract.

Mix in cocoa powder until blended. Add flour, salt, and baking powder just until combined.

Stir in chocolate chips and 1/2 cup M&Ms.

Divide into 12 balls, place on sheets, flatten slightly. Top with remaining M&Ms.
