Christmas Cookie Pinwheels (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting.
02 - 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.
03 - 1/4 teaspoon salt.
04 - 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature.
05 - 3/4 cup sugar.
06 - 1 egg.
07 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
08 - 1/2 to 1 teaspoon red food coloring.
09 - 1/2 to 1 teaspoon green food coloring.

# Instructions:

01 - Mix flour, baking powder, salt.
02 - Beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
03 - Add egg and vanilla.
04 - Mix in dry ingredients gradually.
05 - Divide dough into 3 equal parts.
06 - Color one part red, one green.
07 - Press each into squares, wrap in plastic.
08 - Chill 1 hour.
09 - Roll each dough between parchment to 10-inch square.
10 - Chill 30 minutes.
11 - Stack doughs: red, white, green.
12 - Trim edges straight.
13 - Roll into log using parchment.
14 - Wrap and chill 1 hour.
15 - Heat oven to 350°F.
16 - Slice log into 1/4-inch rounds.
17 - Place 2 inches apart on lined sheets.
18 - Bake 12-15 minutes until set.
19 - Cool 5 minutes on sheet.
20 - Transfer to wire rack.

01 - Use gel food coloring for more intense color.
02 - Make ahead and freeze dough log or baked cookies.
