Peel and cut potatoes into even chunks. Place in pot with cold salted water.

Bring to boil, reduce to simmer. Cook 15-20 minutes until tender. Drain and return to hot pot.

Heat milk, cream, and butter. Stir in cream cheese until smooth.

Mash potatoes, gradually add warm cream mixture until smooth.

Season with salt and pepper. Add optional garnishes.
