Apple Roses (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 cups water.
02 - 1 medium lemon (halved).
03 - 2 tbsp brown sugar (30g).
04 - 2 tbsp white granulated sugar (30g).
05 - ½ tsp ground cinnamon (3g).
06 - ½ tsp ground nutmeg (3g).
07 - 2 red apples (e.g., Gala, Pink Lady).
08 - 1 sheet frozen puff pastry dough (or homemade).
09 - 3–4 tbsp apple jelly (45–60g).

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the rack in the middle position.
02 - Squeeze lemon juice into 2 cups water.
03 - Slice apples thin (1/8 inch) and soak them in the lemon water to prevent browning.
04 - Microwave apples for 3 minutes, then drain the water to soften.
05 - Mix sugar and spices (brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg).
06 - Toss sliced apples with half the sugar mixture.
07 - Roll out puff pastry into strips, dust with flour.
08 - Baste dough with warmed apple jelly, then sprinkle with remaining sugar mix.
09 - Place apple slices on dough, fold over, and roll tightly.
10 - Bake for 35–40 minutes, until golden brown. Cover with foil if too brown.
11 - Cool and dust with powdered sugar.
12 - Serve & enjoy! These delightful apple roses are perfect with caramel sauce.
