Easy Pineapple Brown Sugar Lil Smokies (Print Version)

Crockpot appetizer with Lil' Smokies sausages and canned pineapple chunks in a sweet and savory brown sugar and pineapple juice glaze.

# Ingredients:

→ For the Lil Smokies

01 - 2 packages Lil' Smokies sausages (14 oz each)
02 - 1 cup pineapple chunks, canned

→ For the Sauce

03 - 1 cup packed brown sugar
04 - 1 cup pineapple juice from the canned pineapple
05 - 1 tablespoon soy sauce
06 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
07 - 1 teaspoon onion powder
08 - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
09 - 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - In a medium bowl, whisk together the packed brown sugar, pineapple juice, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and optional cayenne pepper. Whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved and the sauce is smooth.
02 - Place both packages of Lil' Smokies into the basin of your slow cooker. Pour the sauce over the sausages and give them a gentle stir to coat them evenly.
03 - Gently fold in the canned pineapple chunks.
04 - Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 hours or on HIGH for 2 hours, until the sausages are heated through and the sauce has thickened into a beautiful bubbly glaze.
05 - Switch the slow cooker to the 'Warm' setting and provide toothpicks for guests to help themselves. Watch everyone hover around the slow cooker!

# Notes:

01 - This is the ultimate dump-and-go appetizer - mix the sauce, pour it in, and let the slow cooker do all the work.
02 - The brown sugar and pineapple juice create a sweet and savory glaze that caramelizes beautifully in the slow cooker.
03 - You can use fresh or canned pineapple - canned is more convenient and the juice is perfect for the sauce.
04 - The optional cayenne pepper adds just a tiny kick of heat that balances the sweetness perfectly.
05 - Keep it on the Warm setting while serving to maintain the perfect temperature and keep everything bubbly.
06 - These are always the first thing gone at any party or game day gathering!
