Easy Weeknight Meatball Sub (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Homemade Meatballs

01 - 1 pound ground beef (95% lean)
02 - ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
03 - 1 large egg
04 - 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
05 - 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
06 - ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
07 - ½ teaspoon salt

→ Sub Assembly

08 - 24 meatballs (homemade or frozen)
09 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
10 - 2 cups marinara sauce
11 - 8 hot dog buns
12 - 1½ cups mozzarella

# Instructions:

01 - Mix meatball ingredients and form 24 meatballs. Brown in oil in skillet, turning frequently
02 - Add marinara to meatballs, cover and cook on medium-low 15 minutes until 160°F internal temperature
03 - Place buns on baking sheet. Position oven rack 6 inches below broiler
04 - Add 3 meatballs per bun, top with sauce and cheese. Broil 2-3 minutes until cheese melts

# Notes:

01 - Can use frozen meatballs instead of homemade
02 - Watch carefully under broiler to prevent burning
