Whisk pancake mix, water, sugar, salt and vanilla until just combined. Add water if needed for cake-like consistency.

Add batter to piping bag with circle tip or zip top bag with corner cut. Rest in tall glass while oil heats.

Heat 3 inches oil to 340-350°F in deep pan.

Pipe 5-6 inch strips into oil. Fry 20-30 seconds per side until golden.

Drain on paper towels, dust with powdered sugar. Serve immediately.
