Italian Christmas Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 4 eggs.
02 - 1 cup granulated sugar.
03 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened.
04 - 2 teaspoons vanilla or almond extract.
05 - 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour.
06 - 4 teaspoons baking powder.
07 - 2 cups powdered sugar.
08 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.
09 - 3 tablespoons milk.
10 - Nonpareil sprinkles for decoration.

# Instructions:

01 - Whisk together flour and baking powder.
02 - Beat butter, vanilla extract and sugar until creamy.
03 - Mix in eggs one at a time until combined.
04 - Add flour mixture and knead until firm but not sticky.
05 - Wrap dough in plastic and refrigerate for 1 hour.
06 - Heat oven to 375°F and line baking sheets with parchment.
07 - Roll into 1-inch balls or shape into swirls, place 2 inches apart.
08 - Bake 8-10 minutes until bottoms are lightly browned.
09 - Mix powdered sugar, vanilla and milk until smooth.
10 - Dip cooled cookies in glaze and top with sprinkles.

01 - Use room temperature butter for best results.
02 - Don't overmix dough to keep cookies soft.
03 - Cookies must cool completely before glazing.
04 - Can be frozen for up to 3 months without glaze.
