Jollibee Style Spaghetti (Print Version)

Filipino spaghetti with ground pork, minced ham, sliced hotdogs, and a sweet and savory tomato sauce, served over spaghetti pasta with grated cheese.

# Ingredients:

→ For the Pasta

01 - 2 lbs spaghetti pasta

→ For the Meat Sauce

02 - 2 tablespoons cooking oil
03 - 1 yellow onion, minced
04 - 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
05 - 1 lb ham, minced
06 - 1 1/2 lbs ground pork
07 - 6 red hotdogs, sliced diagonally
08 - 15 oz tomato sauce
09 - 1/2 cup tomato paste
10 - 2 cups beef broth
11 - 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
12 - Salt and pepper to taste

→ For Topping

13 - 1 cup grated cheese

# Instructions:

01 - Cook the spaghetti pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
02 - Heat the cooking oil in a large cooking pot over medium heat.
03 - Add the minced garlic and onion to the hot oil. Sauté until fragrant and softened.
04 - Add the minced ham to the pot. Cook for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
05 - Put in the ground pork and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until it starts to brown, breaking it up as it cooks.
06 - Pour in the tomato sauce and beef broth. Stir well and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer for about 60 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce will reduce and thicken.
07 - Add the sliced hotdogs and tomato paste to the pot. Stir well and cook for about 10 minutes or until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
08 - Stir in the sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix until all the ingredients are well incorporated and the flavors are balanced.
09 - Arrange the cooked spaghetti pasta on individual plates. Pour the meat sauce generously over the pasta and top with grated cheese. Serve hot and enjoy!

# Notes:

01 - The long simmering time (60 minutes) is important for developing deep, rich flavors in the meat sauce.
02 - Using both ham and ground pork gives this dish its signature sweet and savory Jollibee flavor.
03 - The sugar is key to the Filipino style - it adds sweetness that balances the savory meat and tomato flavors.
04 - Hotdogs sliced diagonally look nicer than straight cuts.
05 - This sauce is thicker than Italian spaghetti sauce - it should coat the pasta well.
06 - Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 2 months. Cook pasta fresh when ready to serve.
