01 -
Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Remove stems and insert wooden skewers or popsicle sticks into the top of each apple, pushing about halfway through for stability.
02 -
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Make sure you have space in your refrigerator or a cool area for the apples to set.
03 -
Unwrap Jolly Ranchers and sort by color if making different colored apples. Place candies in a small, heavy-bottomed saucepan with 1 tablespoon of water. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until completely melted. Be careful not to burn the candy.
04 -
Alternatively, place unwrapped candies in a microwave-safe bowl with 1 tablespoon of water. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until completely melted (usually takes 2-3 minutes total).
05 -
Working quickly, dip each apple into the melted candy, tilting the saucepan or bowl and rotating the apple to coat it evenly. Allow excess candy to drip off.
06 -
If using decorations like sprinkles or edible glitter, apply them immediately after dipping while the candy coating is still wet.
07 -
Place the dipped apples on the prepared baking sheet and allow them to cool and set completely, about 30 minutes at room temperature or 15 minutes in the refrigerator.
08 -
Once the candy coating has hardened, the apples are ready to serve. For storage, place in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
