Southern Style Peach Cobbler (Print Version)

Easy peach cobbler with simple batter made from self-rising flour, milk, and sugar, topped with canned peaches and cinnamon, baked until golden.

# Ingredients:

→ For the Peach Cobbler

01 - 1/2 cup butter, melted
02 - 1/2 cup brown sugar
03 - 1/2 cup white sugar
04 - 1 cup self-rising flour
05 - 1 cup whole milk
06 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
07 - 2 (16 oz) cans sliced peaches (one drained, one with juice)
08 - Ground cinnamon for topping
09 - Vanilla ice cream for serving

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Pour the melted butter into a 7x11 inch baking dish and place it in the oven just until the butter is melted - don't let it brown.
02 - In a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour, brown sugar, white sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Whisk together until smooth with no lumps.
03 - Pour the batter mixture into the baking dish with the melted butter - BUT DO NOT STIR! This is key. The butter will come up around the edges of the batter as it bakes and create a crispy, golden crust.
04 - Pour one drained can of peaches and one undrained can of peaches (with juice) on top of the batter. Again, DO NOT STIR - just let the peaches sit on top.
05 - Sprinkle ground cinnamon generously over the top of the peaches and batter.
06 - Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes until the top is golden brown and the dough is fully cooked through.
07 - Allow the cobbler to cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving - this helps it set up. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Pure Southern bliss!

# Notes:

01 - The secret to this cobbler is not stirring - the butter rises around the batter and creates a crispy, golden crust.
02 - Using one drained and one undrained can of peaches gives you the perfect amount of juicy filling without it being too wet.
03 - Self-rising flour already contains salt and baking powder, so you don't need to add any.
04 - The cinnamon on top adds amazing flavor and looks beautiful.
05 - This is best served warm with vanilla ice cream - the contrast is perfection.
06 - Store covered at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 4 days. Reheat gently before serving.
