Stuffed Breakfast Pretzel Rolls (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ For the rolls

01 - 1 tube (13.8 oz) pizza dough
02 - 8 large eggs, scrambled (about 2 cups)
03 - ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
04 - 2 cups mild cheddar cheese, shredded (divided)
05 - 5 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked and crumbled (divided)

→ For boiling and finishing

06 - 5 cups water
07 - ¼ cup baking soda
08 - 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
09 - ½ teaspoon kosher salt

→ For the butter topping (optional)

10 - ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
11 - 1 teaspoon kosher salt
12 - Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 425°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Spray with cooking spray. Sprinkle flour on a cutting board for rolling the dough.
02 - Remove pizza dough from package and place on floured board. Roll out into a 20x14-inch rectangle using a rolling pin. Cut into 4 strips, each about 5 inches wide.
03 - On each dough strip, add ½ cup scrambled eggs mixed with garlic powder, ½ cup shredded cheese, and 2 tablespoons crumbled bacon. Roll tightly and pinch the ends to seal completely.
04 - In a medium saucepan over medium heat, bring 5 cups of water to a light boil. Add baking soda and stir until completely dissolved.
05 - Working one at a time, carefully add each pretzel roll to the boiling water and boil for exactly 20 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on the prepared baking sheet.
06 - Brush each boiled roll with beaten egg and sprinkle evenly with salt. Using a sharp knife, cut three diagonal slits on top of each roll.
07 - Bake for 15-17 minutes until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
08 - While rolls are finishing in the oven, mix melted butter with salt. Brush the hot baked rolls with butter mixture and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

# Notes:

01 - Make sure to seal the dough edges tightly to prevent filling from leaking out during boiling.
02 - The baking soda in the boiling water gives the pretzel rolls their characteristic chewy texture and golden color.
03 - You can cook these in an air fryer for 6-8 minutes at 400°F instead of baking, flipping halfway through.
04 - Scramble the eggs just until set but still slightly soft, as they'll continue cooking in the oven.
