Cream butter and sugar 1-2 minutes until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla.

Mix in flour, salt and baking powder just until uniform. Form into ball.

Wrap dough in plastic and refrigerate 30 minutes.

Roll to 3mm thick, freeze 10 minutes, then cut shapes. Freeze shapes 15-30 minutes.

Bake at 340°F for 8-10 minutes until edges golden but centers soft.

Cool on sheet then rack. Decorate once completely cool.
