Check cranberries and remove any soft or wrinkled ones. Rinse and drain well.

Mix ½ cup sugar and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves but don't let it boil.

Remove from heat and stir cranberries into the syrup until well coated.

Set up a wire rack in a paper-lined baking sheet. Transfer cranberries with slotted spoon to rack. Let dry for 1 hour.

Roll dried cranberries in remaining sugar until fully coated.

Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
