Add sliced carrots to a large saucepan and pour in water to cover carrots by 1 inch.

Bring water to a boil, lower heat, cover, and simmer 8-10 minutes until crisp-tender.

Drain carrots and set aside.

In the same pan, combine butter, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Heat over medium heat, stirring until butter melts.

Add carrots back to the pan and cook and stir about 5 minutes until carrots are well glazed.

Sprinkle with parsley if desired before serving.
