Baked Apple Fritters (Print Version)

Ingredients:

01 - 2 cups all-purpose flour.
02 - 1/4 cup granulated sugar.
03 - 2 tsp baking powder.
04 - 1/2 tsp salt.
05 - 1 tsp ground cinnamon.
06 - 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg.
07 - 1/2 cup whole milk.
08 - 2 large eggs.
09 - 1 tsp vanilla extract.
10 - 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted.
11 - 2 cups peeled and chopped apples.
12 - 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed.
13 - 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze).
14 - 2-3 tbsp milk (for glaze).
15 - 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze).

Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - In a bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
03 - In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth.
04 - Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
05 - Gently fold in the chopped apples and brown sugar.
06 - Drop heaping tablespoons of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, forming round fritters.
07 - Bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden brown. Let them cool slightly.
08 - In a bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
09 - Drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters and serve.
