Stir in crushed tomatoes, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and sugar. Heat through for about 5 minutes.

Add the drained pasta to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.

Spread half of the pasta mixture in a 9x13 casserole dish.

Spoon the ricotta cheese over the pasta as a middle layer.

Add the remaining pasta mixture on top without mixing.

Sprinkle grated parmesan and shredded mozzarella cheese over the top.

Bake uncovered for 20 minutes, then broil until the cheese turns golden brown.
