Creamy Vodka Pasta (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 12 ounces penne pasta.
02 - 1 tablespoon olive oil.
03 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter.
04 - 2 cloves garlic, minced.
05 - 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes.
06 - 1/4 cup vodka.
07 - 14 ounces crushed tomatoes.
08 - 1/2 cup heavy cream.
09 - 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated.
10 - Salt and black pepper to taste.
11 - 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped.

# Instructions:

01 - Boil pasta in salted water until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water before draining.
02 - Heat oil and butter in skillet. Cook garlic and red pepper flakes until fragrant, about 1 minute.
03 - Pour in vodka and simmer 2-3 minutes to cook off alcohol.
04 - Add tomatoes and simmer 5-7 minutes. Stir in cream until smooth.
05 - Add pasta to sauce. Mix in Parmesan and basil. Add pasta water if needed for consistency.

# Notes:

01 - Can add tomato paste for richer flavor.
02 - Broth can substitute for vodka if preferred.
