Homemade Onion Dip (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 tablespoons avocado oil or cooking oil.
02 - 2-3 medium-large onions (3 cups), sliced into half moons.
03 - 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, plus 1/4 teaspoon.
04 - 1/2 cup water for deglazing.
05 - 2-3 cloves garlic, minced.
06 - 1 cup sour cream.
07 - 1/2 cup Greek yogurt.
08 - 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce.
09 - 1/2 teaspoon onion powder.
10 - 1/2 teaspoon coarse black pepper.
11 - 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped.
12 - 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped.
13 - Optional: Everything bagel seasoning for garnish.

# Instructions:

01 - Heat oil over high heat. Add onions and 1/2 teaspoon salt, cook 5 minutes.
02 - Reduce to medium heat, cook 45-50 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add water as needed.
03 - Add garlic in last 1-2 minutes of cooking.
04 - Remove from heat, deglaze with water, cool 10-15 minutes.
05 - Mix most caramelized onions (save some for top) with all other ingredients.
06 - Chill 1-2 hours to thicken or serve right away. Top with reserved onions and seasoning.

# Notes:

01 - Takes time but worth the wait.
02 - Gets better after a day in fridge.
03 - Can use all Greek yogurt for lighter version.
04 - Keep heat medium for best caramelization.
05 - Keeps 5 days refrigerated.
