Maple Bacon Doughnuts (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - Vegetable oil for frying
02 - 1 can (16.3 ounce) Grands! biscuits
03 - ½ cup powdered sugar
04 - 1 teaspoon melted butter
05 - 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
06 - ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
07 - 3 slices bacon, fried or baked until crispy and diced into small pieces

# Instructions:

01 - Heat vegetable oil over high heat in a deep pot or pan. Aim for around 350°F if using a thermometer.
02 - Separate biscuits and cut out a hole in the center of each using the top of your plastic oil container or similar round object to create the doughnut shape.
03 - Fry each doughnut until golden brown on both sides, about 1-2 minutes per side. Transfer to a cooling rack with paper towels beneath to drain excess oil.
04 - While doughnuts drain, whisk together powdered sugar, melted butter, maple syrup, and vanilla extract in a medium sized bowl until smooth and pourable.
05 - Dip one side of each doughnut into the maple glaze and place back on the cooling rack.
06 - Sprinkle crispy bacon bits over the glaze of each doughnut while it's still wet so the bacon adheres well.
07 - Let glaze set for a few minutes, then serve while still warm.

# Notes:

01 - Cut the holes out of the biscuits evenly by using the top of a plastic oil container or something similar for uniform circles.
02 - Keep the oil at a consistent high heat (around 350°F) for frying. If too low, doughnuts will absorb too much oil; if too high, they'll burn before cooking through.
03 - Fry in batches to maintain oil temperature and prevent overcrowding.
04 - Don't skip the draining step - properly drained doughnuts will be less greasy and more enjoyable.
