Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken (Print Version)

Bite-sized chicken pieces coated in cornstarch and fried until crispy, then tossed in a sticky sweet and savory sauce made with honey, garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil.

# Ingredients:

→ For the Chicken

01 - 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
02 - 1/2 cup cornstarch
03 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
04 - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
05 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
06 - 1 teaspoon onion powder
07 - 3 to 4 tablespoons peanut oil (or frying oil of choice)

→ For the Sticky Honey Garlic Sauce

08 - 1/3 cup honey
09 - 1/4 cup soy sauce
10 - 2 tablespoons minced garlic
11 - 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
12 - 1 tablespoon ketchup
13 - 1 teaspoon sesame oil
14 - 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for slurry)

→ Optional Toppings

15 - Sesame seeds
16 - Chopped green onions
17 - Jasmine rice for serving
18 - Steamed vegetables for serving

# Instructions:

01 - Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and add to a large bowl. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels first for better coating. Add the cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Toss until the chicken is well coated.
02 - Heat 3 to 4 tablespoons of peanut oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the chicken in a single layer on the bottom of the pan. Let it cook for 3 to 4 minutes without stirring, then flip and continue cooking until the chicken is crispy and golden on all sides.
03 - Once the chicken is cooked through and crispy, remove it from the pan and set aside.
04 - Lower the heat to medium in the same pan. Add the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, and sesame oil. Stir everything together well.
05 - Let the sauce simmer for 2 minutes, then stir in the cornstarch slurry (1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water). Stir until the sauce thickens.
06 - Add the chicken back to the pan and stir until every piece is well coated in that sticky, delicious sauce.
07 - Top with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if you like. Serve over jasmine rice with some steamed veggies on the side. This is so good!

# Notes:

01 - Chicken breast works great, but boneless thighs are even juicier if your family prefers them.
02 - Pat the chicken dry with paper towels before coating for the best crispy texture.
03 - You can use any frying oil you have on hand if you don't have peanut oil.
04 - Speed this up by cubing the chicken ahead of time and prepping all sauce ingredients in a bowl.
05 - If using white vinegar instead of apple cider vinegar, start with 3/4 teaspoon since it's stronger.
